Cultural Activities

YEAR 2009-10 TO 2013-14

INTRODUCTION

The Cultural Department is unique and strongest in the college.  Cultural activities are outstanding as usual in the last five years also. Numbers of cultural students of the college have represented at International, National, Zone and State level cultural events. The college has fully equipped Cultural Department for the students who has interested in cultural activates. We have a separate Auditorium hall and Amphitheater built as per the university norms. We also provide traditional/Classical instrument facilities for the cultural activities and events like Folk Orchestra, Folk Dance, Lok Kala Dance, Group Songs, Vocal and Classical Singing, percussion and non- percussion instrumental. And we also run Music, Vocal, and Instrumental Career Oriented Course from the year of 2010-11. We regularly conduct and teach Dance, Singing, Vocal and Instrumental practices in our campus.

The special achievement is our history of last five years, as we won the General Championship of Youth Festival of Shivaji University, Kolhapur. This year in Bhartiym Karandak we won and gate memento of Bharti vidyapeeth, Pune and get total Price of Rs. 32,000/-, In Srujan Youth Festival, Baramati, total price of Rs. 29000/-, at Capital One, Belgaum we achieved Rs. 7000/-, In Manoranjan Karandak, Ichalkaranji, Rs. 7000/-, Sathguru Karandak, Savantwadi Rs. 7000/-, Purshottam Karandak, Pune Rs. 3000/-, Natysampada, Mumbai 1500/-, Prabhodan Karandak, 7000/-. Our cultural department won the total price of Rs. 93,000/- in the year of 2013-14.

With the changing trend we have noticed a major difference in the every field. Students don’t want to be bookworms; they look for other options that could help them in the future. Besides, this in this high tech world, every student wants to acquire knowledge in every field to stay updated. Co-circular activities play a vital role in the life of students. So, following are the benefits of Cultural Activities for the students.

Practical Benefits

Extracurricular activities teach   students how to work for   a     common goal and this ultimately develops a sense of responsibility in them. It increases the level of confidence and also teaches them how to co-operate and work with people in different conditions. They learn to face the challenges that come in education and career. Extracurricular activities like sports require a person to remain physically fit. Thus students have to be particular about their health and diet. They have to take diet which can make them physically stronger and also do exercise daily. They start loving their body, which is very important for a happier life

Educational Benefits

Most of the employers love to hire people who are all rounded. Sustained involvement in more than one activity reflects the talent and potential of the student. Hiring officials look for these talents in people. Besides, this when applying for admission in colleges for higher degrees, these students get a preference too. While pursuing these activities in college along with education students learn prioritization and time management skills too. These academically and co-circularly talented students have well-groomed personality, which helps them to face the world in a better way

Cultural Activities

The cultural committee of the college works with the objective of developing the academic and cultural talents of the students, improving their capabilities to work as a team and raising their level of self-confidence in interacting with fellow students and peers. Dr. D. C. Kamble is the Chairman of this committee.

Cultural activities organized by the committee include the three day annual cultural festival "Youth Festival", which is organized usually in the month of September- October and includes a number of intra and inter-college competitions inShort Plays, Singing: Classical and Vocal (Solo & Group), Dance: Classical and Folk (Solo & Group), Elocution, Quiz, Debate, Acting: Mime, Skit, Road Act Play, Instrumental: Percussion and Non- Percussion (Talwadya and Surwadya) etc. Winners of the competitions are awarded certificates, trophies in the intra-college events.

College is not just a place, where the career oriented students focuses on study, while others just spend the time and sometimes attend the class. Usually, it is a place, where a person learns to be ‘whole student’. In education sector, the competition has become very tough, where every student wants to grab the first spot. On college campus, extracurricular activities work as key tool for the students to enhance their personal skills.

Some people may think that college is just for study and the sports and cultural meets are not important for the students. As we all know that young people are always energetic but they lead towards depression soon too. So, it becomes very essential to keep their mind away from sadness. The extracurricular activities not only fill students’ mind with positivity but also help them to improve their skills like dedication, involvement, balance and leadership. These skills prepare a strong future of a student. The leadership experience and holding responsibilities in these activities create a way to demonstrate headship in future.

While participating in these activities, students learn to take part in them with full dedication. These activities strengthen the leadership skills of a person. The students learn to balance their study and personal lives through these meets. Where cultural meets keep the people connected with their culture while the sports meets keep them physically fit and mentally stable. While pursuing in these outside class activities, students can learn several things about themselves.

The activities that are arranged for the students not only enjoyed by them but also help them to learn new things. The activities that are organized by University are usually related to cultural, sports and study. In these meets, the participants can showcase their skills and can strengthen them. Apart from the activities, we also arrange several events that can be enjoyed by the students.

OBJECTIVES

  • To create interest among the students about cultural activities.
  • To develop all round personality, leadership qualities, national integration, patriotism among student.

  • As most of these activities are group-oriented which are having students from different niches, which gives them a chance to more know about people of different cultures.
  • It increases the student’s level of confidence and also teaches them how to co-operate and work with people in different conditions.
  • While pursuing these activities in college along with education students learn prioritization and time management skills.
  • Besides, this when applying for admission in colleges for higher degrees, these students get a preference too
